Q. I want to know about Ufuq Arsalan. He survived in the novel but on internet I read about an Ufuq Arsalan dying in the same situation as novel's Ufuq was injured in. So what happened to Ufuq in real?
A. The news you read was about an engineer (I know nothing of) who died in a stove explosion in earthquake relief activities back in 2005. He was NOT AT ALL a climber. I just took his name, and took some inspirtaion from his sitara-e-Hilal receiving ceremony and just added it to the story of a real life "climber" that I wrote in KKTM. That real climber was neither Turkish, nor he went to Rakaposhi, Nor was his name Ufuq  Arsalan. He was not an engineer. Just a climber.

Q. It means the real climber did survive in the end and the Karakoram Ka Taj Mahal has a true ending?
A. Yes. By the time I wrote that story, that real climber was alive. Few years later, he went to a mountain in Nepal and never came back. They never found a dead body even. So, I hate to tell you, but he died only after I showed him to be fully alive and happy. (If you remember there was a hint of him going back to mountains in the last line. Alas!)
